Our World v0.1

15,832 Triangles Total

Here's the world so far. You should be able to make out the important bits. Of course, there's a fair few models to be done/imported yet, such as the mine-related stuff, fences, trees, more rocks, alphas and if we're really desperate, crates.

Then who knows, if we have time in these remaining 4 weeks, we may add some really fun, crazy stuff...

By the way, the background needs to be done too, which includes tapering the cliffs down to create the illusion of perspective (We've tried it, it works well!). There's also another rocky bit to the left, where the rope bridge will connect to, which isn't included in these pics because it's not quite pretty enough yet, yo.

Grassy bit with paths and fences and rabbits and lollipops.

that's one big hunka geometry there - going into unreal as a static mesh at some point?

We initially were set on putting everything into Unreal, but then heard that you guys would prefer we kept it out of a game engine for this project.

We decided to try Unreal only after everything else was finished, so that if we had serious engine trouble, at least the project would be viewable to a high standard in Max.

Unreal is obviously better with regards to lighting, but Tom's been reading into Vray/Mental Ray rendering so that we can still take some rocking screenshots of this project if Unreal doesn't happen for us.

Everything depends on how long the textures take to do. Ho hum...

Thanks for your support though, Mike. Keep those observations coming!
